At some point, maybe 3 years ago or so, Girl-child made me aware of clouds in a way I hadn't been before...now that the stormy weather of spring and summer are upon us, I am grateful for that awareness.
Back when he was 11 or 12, Elder Son and I took a trip to Scotland and England. We saw many skies like those, often with sunbeams steaming through. I explained to him that the church bulletins of my childhood, those little 8.5x11 folded-in-half things with the hymn numbers and the Bible reading and the topic of the sermon on the inside, seemed to always have a photo on the front that looked like those skies with the clouds and the sunbeams. To this day we refer to those as church-bulletin skies.

I must have had the same sort of illustrations. I always thought that sun streaming thru clouds was god.
