End of an Era (bis), but Still Knitting

It's the end of an era for our neighborhood, and for Ford. The plant down the street from our little house has closed. What used to be full of trucks fresh out of the plant...

...will soon be wide open spaces. Over 120 acres of prime real estate. It's ironic that we're prepping the house for sale at the same time of the plant closure - our house was built in 1925 for the new middle class that was created by the good jobs at the plant.
End of an era for me, too...no more kids at home...moving solo into new, unknown living spaces, starting a new chapter.

Knitting still keeps me (kind of) sane. I've begun swatching the yarn from the frogged sweater in anticipation of making something better...(target: Harvest Moon, inspired by Aimee at Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater...yarn: Cascade 220 purchased in 2007 or 2008 at The Yarnery in St Paul):

Current sock on the needles (pardon the awful photo) which I'm liking a lot - the color is called, "Vampire's Kiss" (paca-peds, purchased at Borealis in St. Paul).

And a lace project that I'm liking a lot. (Cold Mountain in Marine Blue Zephyr purchased at Loopy in Chicago). I got hung up early on because of a mistake, but since fixing it and taking control, it's moving along. It's going to take a long time, but it'll be worth it.

Currently I am one of the many who is hooked on Downton Abbey...for work I am learning Adobe Captivate and will soon be learning WordPress for web design .... I'm listening to my first Neil Gaiman book (audio from the library) Anansi Boys ...

Change is a constant. I loved the blue lace when I touched it at knit night -- so soft and drapey.

Cool! I've listened to that one on audio CD before. It was good.

You should check out this video on the "world's longest scarf" knit by friend Mike. In it he talks about starting a knitting group for kicking bad habits. We should go when it's a thing! And your bad habit you can try to quit is knitting too many socks. ;)
