Hooray for the Everyday!

Just hanging out, getting used to the new normal.

Isn't it funny how kids can always find fun activities, even in a condo with limited space?  I can only hope they like visiting Nana Anna's house.

The lake continues to be a place of refuge.  I even got to walk around Isles yesterday with Girl-child, alone.  Time to talk is so rare now that there are children around.

I discovered some treasures at Riverside station yesterday.  They seem to be made of pots and pans.

I love finding stuff like this around town - especially in the more down-trodden parts of town.

And speaking of the old 'hood, they're building more apartments near Cedar Square West (or whatever it's called now).  I'm dying to see if they're subsidized or luxury or something in between.

I'm hoping to take this weekend off as far as Auntie's estate.  What to do, what to do ....  Maybe I'll go floor shopping and make a final decision.  I had second thoughts the other day and have started considering terrazzo.  Will I ever get this project done?!?

The New Normal

Life begins to take on a normal feel. It's a new normal, for a number of reasons.

The Girls have two children, 3-1/2 yrs and 1 yr old. They came upon them through family, and will have them until further notice.

So far the new normal with The Babies includes going to the farmers market on Saturday mornings.

There are donuts.

And this week there was birdhouse building.

The flowers are planted on the balcony.

Today I did a little shopping in Stillwater.

And walking around Lake of the Isles has resumed.

Next Saturday is Auntie's memorial service.   After that the focus will be on emptying her house and selling it.  A weird new normal summer project.

Back Again

Auntie's turn for the worse ended on May 11th when she passed away.

I left for the New England and Canada knitting cruise on May 15th.

My surreal spring has been one of profound loss sandwiched by two great trips.

So, here are a few photos from the cruise, which turned out to provide some time for me to decompress.

Rose the Gypsy took good care of me.

Bar Harbor, Maine:

Lucy Neatby's House (Halifax, Nova Scotia):

The cemetery where some of the Titanic victims are buried (still Halifax):

Handmaiden hand-dyed yarns out to dry (also Halifax):

An exhibit in Halifax that opened up for us:

Some purchases - Rose the Gypsy leans toward softer colors, I go for the over-dyed ones:

Decompressing in The Crow's Nest:

Barry from Boston in the piano bar:

Belfast Mini-Mills on Prince Edward Island:

Monkey towel in our stateroom:

Quebec City (the coldest place we visited!):

The Boat:

I knit a bit too, and got a shawl finished (ok, the ends are not woven in, but it's still finished):

That's it for now.  Not sure where I'll go next, or when ...
