Spring Tales and Adventures

I must say I am enjoying springtime.  Nothing like a hellish winter to make a person appreciate hot, muggy weather.

Walks around the lakes have begun, planting of the balcony garden is pretty much done and adventure abounds in the big city.

The 21 bus is a never-ending cinema of the weird, the sad and the inspirational.  After walking to Longfellow Market for a few groceries I hopped on the bus for the return trip.  In my short ride I saw...

An East African woman who was covered, kind of.  She had on a head-scarf, a long skirt and a short sleeved t-shirt that not only showed her arms but also the full contours of her very pregnant self.

A Mexican family with a little girl who had on the coolest shoes ever.  Boy those Latinas know how to find good shoes.  The girl was probably about 5 years old so she's got a bright shoe future  :-D

A Native American man with a t-shirt on it that had an image of Oscar the Grouch (pirated, to be sure) and the slogan "I'm trashed" along with an image of an Absolut bottle on the back.  He was in sorry shape.  His companion was also in sorry shape.

A gaggle of gay hipsters.  God only knows why they were on the bus.  They moved out of the way so that the above mentioned trashed man and his companion could sit down.

A middle-class African American teenager with the most hilarious pair of banana-print shorts and also a banana-print hat.  I had a hard time not laughing at the sight of him.  Really.  I'm not sure how to describe the effect.

I'm going to try biking this summer too.  For real this time.  I think it's been over 25 years since I biked.  Wish me luck.  I'm headed for The Greenway now.

Balcony garden is lookin' good! Also, I find that the interesting people are on the bus during the day. Bus riders during the morning and evening commute are much less diverse.
