Nothing to report, so just a few musings ...

Minneapolis used to be a real Wonder Bread city. Not so much any longer.  This was taken while going 'round the track at the YWCA.

I received an amaryllis as a hostess gift, which was really pretty while it lasted. I have not been buying flowers due to the big trip expenditures that are coming soon, so it was good to have around.

And did I mention that The Girls and I went to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on Valentine's Day? They gave everyone hearts to put by their favorite artwork.

We went to see the Hapsburg exhibit.  It's a good show - see it if you can.

(I put my heart at Picasso's Baboon and young.)

And don't forget, that Vermeer's still there to see.

Nerdy Furniture

Although I have said many times that I don't want to acquire any more stuff, a friend stumbled upon a piece in her attic ... I decided I had to have it.

Behold, the knitting table:

It has drop-in side compartments:

And three drawers, including one with a sectioned insert for notions:

I'm starting to fill it with, well, knitting stuff.

It's easy to justify a piece of furniture that is so useful and so nerdy.

Right?

Tax Time

I did my own taxes today for the first time in my life. Yes, even as a teenager I had a tax-man; my mother worked for the IRS so one of her co-workers did them for me.

In other happenings, I finished a baby gift for a co-worker.  She's due in April but I thought I would mail it in March.  She lives in (northern) California.  I went with the three sock tradition, not because the baby will have three feet but because socks always get lost.

I also went to a new book club this past week - Books and Bars at Republic.  The book was entertaining, the discussion was good and the facilitator lively.  I'll probably go again.  The book for February was The Golem and the Jinni.  Next month is Shotgun Lovesongs which is almost local (Wisconsin).  For St Paulites the meeting place is The Happy Gnome (there's a meeting in Excelsior every month too, but who wants to drive to Excelsior?).

While at Calhoun Square I snapped some photos of an umbrella installation.

Not Christo, but fun.

Mary Poppins even makes an appearance.

Knitting Machine?

I've never been attracted to machine knitting before.

But I discovered something this week that could change my mind.

Take a look at www.knitsforlife.com

Their yarn bomb page is available here.

These are some of my favorites:

True not all of them are knitting machine scale, but still...and this discovery comes on the heels of Silvernfire suggesting the new stadium could be yarn bombed .... hmmm ....
