MNKD and New Camera cont'd

I failed to mention in my original post that I received a delightfully sheepy mug at Knitters' Days (I took it to work since they all think I'm pretty kooky with the knitting):

As well as a pair of black, sparkly fingerless mitts (I would never knit sparkly for myself):

And matching sock earrings:

This is the scarf in progress which is the product of the Domino Knitting class (note the color pattern in the bottom-right of the paper - it's knit on the diagonal so the next square will be green):

I continue to be thrilled with the new camera:

Now I just have to go out more so that I find things and take pictures.

Also, just when The Gypsy and I had decided on a cruise we got an email for another possibility ... hmmm ... go somewhere warm and uninteresting on the cheap or go somewhere spendy and cold but very interesting .... ???

Minnesota Knitters' Days

Last weekend was Minnesota Knitters' Days at Villa Maria.

It was Domino Knitting with Susanna Hansson.

I got a new camera (finally!) for the occasion.

It came in very handy when figuring out the colors.

The Gypsy was in town for the event.  She managed to stump the instructor.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the weather was downright hot.

I'm not a country girl but I am very fond of the location.

Plus I love the labyrinth out  back.

Hope to make it again next year.

Trying to Maintain Sanity

I'm definitely losing my mind.

It's all about the weather.

I thought I was made of stronger stuff, but apparently not.

I've taken to looking at this every day.

Found it on Jenny Lawson's blog, which I also look at every day.

Have to find a laugh somewhere.

This is what I found on The Bloggess today.

I laughed.

Global warming-schmarming.

We'll have to evolve into fish soon, or perish.

It's true, the sun tried to come out.

A couple of times.

In the past few months.

With little success.

Today there were waves in the bird bath:

It was dark as night at noon.

I signed up for a 20 week MOOC today.

Will it be enough motivation for me to live or will I expire of despair before it even starts?

New Year's Knitting

Here's the first of my 12 from Stash in 2013- a hat for Boy.  I had an extra hank of black washable worsted for just this thing (Boy does not get anything made with fancy yarn any more).

This will be done soon...it's a fishnet pattern in a very colorful yarn.  The idea was to have something that would go with everything.  I'm very interested to see how it blocks out.  (Hopefully it will be blocking on Boy's bed next weekend after he returns to Chicago Tuesday).

This is a stealth project - to be done for someone who stalks the blog and belongs to Ravelry, so no details.  The yarn was purchased at Borealis before it closed.  It has to be done by the end of April.  I find that I have so little knitting time these days, I'm not going to take any chances, which is why I'm allowing myself nearly four months for a project that is not really that big of a deal.

I also have a pair of socks OTN (no surprise), so that gives me four of the twelve to be done from existing stash/WIPs.  Doable?  I hope so.

For Yarnover I signed up for the dinner the night before and "Knitting Happily Ever After - Ergonomics for Knitters" with Carson Demers.
